Mitman Neighborhood Association Meeting Minutes

Annual Meeting, October 18, 2025

Present: Ali Bickford, President; Harold Hallikainen, Chief Financial Officer; Susan Patania, Chief Information Officer; Jennifer Beard, Advisor

Quorum present

  • Board members introduced themselves. Ali Bickford, President, updated neighbors on current events:
  • Mitman has a very positive relationship with the city.
  • Jennifer attended a Ward 6 meeting on homelessness. See website for her report.
  • Ali and Harold participated in the “Connecting Neighborhoods” meeting.
  • The Board met with the city about the bike route and a safe crossing across Speedway.
  • Alamo Wash Greenway: MNA is actively communicating with the city about this project. 
  • The annual Block Party and Potluck with live music will be from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Saturday, November 1 on the 5700 block of Rosewood. All Mitman neighbors are welcome!
  • Our watershed park at Baker and Van Buren will have trees placed on Sunday, November 9, at 8:00 a.m.
  • The Board Advisor serves as a voting member and can focus on specific neighborhood issues. Neighbor Deb expressed an interest and was included in the voice vote for officer positions. All current officers were re-elected. 
  • Revised Bylaws and Articles of Incorporation adopted, Employer Identification Number (EIN) and new bank account obtained. MNA is now a 501 (c) (3) organization and will file a 990N form at tax time.
  • Last fiscal year’s financial reports are available on the website.
  • Annual dues are $10.00/yr. per household and can be paid by cash, check, or Zelle.
  • Neighbor Announcements and Open Discussion
  • Nuri introduced the Rosewood Bike Club, which hosts informal rides some weekends starting at 5720 E. Rosewood. The next ride is at 9:00 am on October 25.
  • Various concerns about homeless people were expressed. Jennifer Beard, who attended a city workshop on homeless issues, said their recommendation was to talk with homeless people you encounter. 
  • Neighbors must clear the alleys behind their homes to reduce fire risk.
  • Need more speed bumps: Ali Bickford is working on a grant for this.
